Dr. Carrie Young-McWilliams

BIO

Dr. Carrie Young-McWilliams, a native of Mississippi and daughter of a civil rights worker, currently resides in Maryland. She has always been an advocate for social justice and equity in education. Carrie brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership, having led transformative efforts in low-performing high schools and directed district-wide reform initiatives in Mississippi. Her impactful career also includes roles as a Dean of Students, curriculum author, and classroom teacher. She is a National Equity Project Fellow and a D-School Fellow, and has presented to national audiences at the Aurora Symposium and the National Association of School Principals. She holds degrees from the University of Central Florida, Sacred Heart University, and the University of Sarasota, where her doctoral research focused on student mobility. In 2016, she received the Digital Leader Award of Early Learning for Blended Learning.
